Lorba Drewry

Lorba's journey in sustainable architecture and urban planning has always been deeply personal.

From the start, her work has been rooted in a commitment to vernacular architecture, humanitarian efforts, and community-driven design both in Australia and across the world. She has spent years advocating for sustainable materials, passive solar design, and disaster risk reduction—always with an eye on how climate impact intersects with housing policy and social justice.

Currently working in the Braidwood community in urban planning and design, Lorba bring her design-oriented skills to find creative and evidence-based solutions for sustainable and functional housing at a local level.

Her career has been a testament to the power of architecture as a force for good. Through her work in urban planning, she has helped shape policies that prioritise both people and the planet. She’s collaborated with local governments and grassroots organisations to design housing solutions that are not just functional but also deeply sustainable and culturally resonant.

Lorba’s belief in ethical and sustainable design is not just about buildings—it’s about the people who live in them. She has always emphasised the importance of community involvement in shaping urban landscapes, ensuring that the voices of those most affected are heard in the process. She has a relational approach, and is a warm and personable collaborator, you may have even seen her playing with her kids in the park!

Her work in disaster risk reduction has also been significant, focusing on building resilient communities that can withstand environmental challenges.

Lorba’s work continues beyond our region too, as she continues to engage in advocacy, conversations, and vision for a future where sustainability and social justice go hand in hand.

Juggling purpose-led work alongside motherhood and community life, Lorba is a valuable local asset to our shared sustainable futures.
